Survey of Common Experimental technology platform

   State Key Laboratory of Lithospheric Evolution includes various laboratories to do  geochemical testing and geophysical observation research, which constitute the four experimental observation systems.

   Lithospheric material composition and properties Analysis system  

  This system includes a series of laboratories to do material composition determination, radioisotope analysis, stable isotope analysis , micro-analysis of composition and structure, fluid inclusion analysis, and so on.   

  Earth’s Deep Structure Observational System

  This system includes Paleomagnetism Lab and field portable seismic array for the long-term observation of natural earthquake and instantaneous observation of artificial earthquake.

  Geochronology Measurement System

  This system can measure the isotope chronometry of 14C, U series, 39Ar-0Ar, U-Pb, Rb-Sr, Sm-Nd, thermoluminescence-photoluminescence meter.

   Data Processing and Computing System

  The advanced equipments of the laboratory are capable of yielding high-quality data of international standards and meeting the basic needs of the lithosphere evolution research.

  1、The main laboratory facilities

   There are many facilities of geochemistry testing and isotopic geochronology analysis, such as 3 sets of stable isotope mass-spectrometers, 4 suits of stable isotope mass spectrometers, 1setof multiple plasma mass-spectrometer( with 1 set of laser system), 1 set of inert gas isotope mass spectrometer (Ar) (with 2 sets of laser system), 2 sets of plasma mass spectrometers, 1 set of electron microprobe, 1 set  of scanning electron microscope, 1 set of X-ray fluorescence spectrometer, 1 set of plasma spectroscope, 1set of diffractometer, 1 set of laser Raman spectroscope,1 set of thermoluminescence-photoluminescence meter dating system, 1 set of quadrupole mass spectrometer, 1 set of fluid inclusions measuring temperature. In addition, there are pre processing systems of sterilized chemical room, chemical analysis room and stable isotope sample room .

  Paleomagnetism laboratory is equipped with rock-755R superconducting magnetometer, Curie temperature tester, alternating gradient magnetometer, geomagnetic intensity magnetizers, KappaBridge Magnetic Susceptibility Bridge, thermal demagnetizers, JR-5A spinner magnetometer, U-CHANNEL-rock superconducting magnetometer and low temperature magnetic properties measurement system. In addition there is  the largest volume and the highest precision magnetic vacuum space at home and abroad.   

The wide frequency band seismic array laboratory has more than 200 suits of 24 digital wide frequency band seismologs, of which 100 ones are Chinese products, DS-24 collecting System and Wide Frequency (20Hz-20s) seismology, and 102 ones are foreign products, RefTek 72A-08 Collecting System and 130-1 Collecting System universally employed by IRIS and CMG-3ESP (50Hz-30s) Seismometer of Graf. A data-processing system of the international standard has been established. In addition, there is corresponding system of data storing and computing.

There are 5 computer workstations for data-processing, such as parallel computing systems of molecular dynamics, parallel computing system of mantle dynamics.

  3 We make the lab open to staff of Institution of Geology and Geophysics, CAS, encourage and support young scientists and technicians to do experiment with the laboratory equipment and experimental condition. We also provide part-time job for graduate students of Institution of Geology and Geophysics, CAS.
