Medium-term check meeting of earth science research projects of outstanding state key laboratories held in Nanjing
The medium-term check meeting of 2007 Earth Science research projects of outstanding state key laboratories was held on 29 and 30 December in Nanjing.The meeting was chaired by Meng Xuanping,deputy director of planning bureau NSFC.
The experts group, which leader was professor Chen Fahu from LAN Zhou University, was composed of 4 professors from different universities and 4 scholars of research organizations and institutions of higher learning from CAS, Zhrngjiang University and China Earthquake Administration.
Representations from 6 laboratories make a report on their respective projects progress, including State Key Laboratory of Numerical Modeling for Atmospheric Sciences and Geophysical Fluid Dynamics, State Key Laboratory of Loess and Tertiary Geological, State Key Laboratory of Lithospheric Evolution, State Key Laboratory of Palaeobiology and Stratigraphy, State Key Laboratory of Information Engineering in Surveying Mapping Remote Sensing and space weather, State Key Laboratory of Space Weather. After listening to the reports of the lab, the expert group gave advice to each lab.
Wang Qingchen, deputy director of SKLABLE, delivered a report at the General Assembly on behalf of SKLABLE. According to the appoint of the expert group, the research projects finished by SKLABLE completed the two years’ work plan and made substantial progress, played a leading role in promoting the study of lithosphere destruction in North China, and made innovation understanding in the transformation of continental lithosphere.
The expert group proposed SKLABLE projects should have keystone in the next two years and strengthen interdisciplinary combination, particular in the collaborative research on geophysics (natural earthquakes), petrologic and structural geology of the destructive areas in North China Craton, and pay attention to the tagging of results publishing.
After the meeting, delegates visited the State Key Laboratory of Palaeobiology and Stratigraphy.
