The Joint academic committee meeting of State Key Laboratory of Lithospheric Evolution and State Key Laboratory of Continental Dynamics was held in Xi’an from 23 to 25December in Xi’an.

Academic committee members of the two key national laboratories like academician Zhang Guowei, Chen Yong, Jin Zhenmin, Li Shuguang, Zhu Rixiang, professor Zheng Yongfei, Shu Degan, Liu Chiyang, Gao Shan, Yang Zhenyu, Jiang Shaoyong,Zhang Lifei,researcher Fan Weiming, Zhai Mingguo, Zhao Yue, Zhu Xiangkun attended the meeting, part of the academic backbones presented the meeting as observers.

Zhu Xiaoke, vice president of the Northwest University, and Zhu Rixiang, deputy director of the CAS Institute of Geology and Geophysics, addressed at the meeting on behalf of the support units.

Professor Lai Shaocong, deputy director of State Key Laboratory of Continental Dynamics, and Wang Qingchen, deputy director of State Key Laboratory of Lithospheric Evolution, both delivered a report on the research results in 2006 and the progress of state key laboratory construction.

   Participating members take a heated discussion in development of academic disciplines, development of qualified personnel, and other important issues. During the discussion, academic members fully affirmed the academic achievements made by SKLABLE and SKLCD.  

Committee members pointed out that state-to-state key laboratories would intensify support for national key laboratories, which should do some advance research to solve major infrastructure geological problems, and center around the country’s economic construction needs to make original contributions. They also put the higher demand of construction and development of SKLABLE and SKLCD, and gave some constructive advice.

The meeting also discussed the issue of opening subject. Professor Lai Shaocong and academicians Zhu Rixiang pointed out in their concluding speech, SKLABLE and SKLCD would seriously consider the members’ valuable advice, and carry out the improvement and adjustment measures as soon as possible, and strengthen cooperation and exchanges.
