Management for public visits to the State Key Laboratory of Lithospheric Evolution
In accordance with the spirit of the No. [2004]277 Ji-Notice about National Key Laboratories opening up to public issued by National Science Development Committee and to propagandize and display the achievements of the State Key Laboratory of Lithospheric Evolution, promote the popularization of science, enhance the scientific awareness among young people, and standardize the opening activities of our laboratory, the following provisions are formulated:
1. The laboratory staff should be fully aware that opening up to the public is a social responsibility of the laboratory and also an important measure to draw talents into the laboratory. Therefore the activity shall be treated seriously.
2. Targets and timing of the public activities
1) The activity shall face science enthusiasts, especially those who still in primary school, high school, and universities.
2) Laboratory shall open to the public at least 10 days a year.
3). Make full use of holidays, summer and winter vacations.
3 Based on the characteristics of the laboratory, organize various forms of opening activities:
1) Focusing on the theme of the relationship between the earth's environment and human and organizing various forms of activities.
2) According to different visitors of the laboratory, organize visits, scientific summer camp, science lectures, student practice, and other forms of activities.
3) Set down plans for activities each year, and when approved by the director of the laboratory, arrange the organizers, coordinate expenses, and activities.
4) The activities shall be well designed and prepared and arranged by professionals.
5) Laboratory staff shall be encouraged to take part in all kinds of scientific activities organized by parties outside the laboratory.
4 Organization of the opening activity
1) The director of the laboratory will be in charge of the activity, one of the deputy directors of the laboratory will be appointed to design and monitor the execution of the activity.
2) Professionals shall be employed to plan and organize the activities.
3) The Chief Secretary of the laboratory shall assist the professionals in organizations and arrangements of opening activities.
4) Scientists and laboratory technicians shall obey the arrangement of the activity organizers and complete tasks assigned to them.
5. Funds
1) Opening activities shall be financed by the key laboratories through operating expenses.
2) Organizers shall submit the expense budget while planning the activities. The specific items of expenditure include: printing of promotional materials, production of display panels, venue renting, equipment consumption, transportation, fee for labor and other staff, and etc.
3) The budget shall be approved by the director of the Laboratory and then reimbursed through laboratory operating expenses.
4) Project groups or laboratory shall sponsor the activities.
6. Summary and Reports
After the conclusion of the event, the Chief Secretary will be responsible for summary and report to the director or the Ministry of Science and Technology about the organization, activities, and the results of the events.
7. During the activities, the safety of the participants and laboratory staff shall be strengthened and the confidentiality of the laboratory shall be protected according to state regulations.
8. The above-mentioned provisions shall be added and amended in accordance with the specific circumstances.
